Add Queue

The Queue tab in the AutomatR Orchestrator application is a crucial module that enables users to effectively manage work items and orchestrate their execution within automation processes. The Queue tab provides a structured way to manage data inputs and outputs for your automation processes. In this section, you can create, manage, and monitor queues, ensuring seamless data handling during automation execution.

Adding a queue from the Queue tab in the AutomatR Orchestrator application involves entering the queue name, queue key, desertion time, notification email, adding custom fields, specifying desertion notification email(s), reviewing the details, and clicking the Add button. This process facilitates organized and effective management of work items within the queue, contributing to smooth automation processes.

Here's a brief procedure for adding a queue from the Queue tab in the AutomatR Orchestrator application:

  • Log in to the AutomatR Orchestrator application using your credentials.

  • Navigate to the Queue tab and select Queue window, where you manage and configure queues.

  • Locate and click on the Add button within the Queue window. This action will open the queue creation form.

  • In the provided field, enter a descriptive name for the queue. This name will serve as the identifier for the new queue.

  • Similarly, in the next field, enter a unique key for the queue. The key is used as a reference and identifier for the queue within automation processes and applications.

  • Enter Desertion Time (in Mins), the maximum amount of time, in minutes, that an item can remain in the queue without being processed. This helps prevent items from being stranded in the queue for too long.

  • Enter an email address in the Notification Email field. This email will receive notifications or alerts related to the queue's activities or status.

  • Custom fields provide additional attributes or data points that can be associated with each queue item. Specify the name and type of each custom field as needed.

    • Click on the + button to add one or more Custom Fields to the queue.
  • Enter one or more email addresses in the Desertion Notification Email(s) field. These emails will be notified if an item in the queue approaches or exceeds the specified desertion time without being processed.

  • Take a moment to review the entered information, including Queue Name, Queue Key, Desertion Time, Notification Email, Custom Fields, and Desertion Notification Email(s). Ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Once you're satisfied with the details, click the Add button. This action will finalize the queue creation process and add the new queue to the AutomatR Orchestrator.

  • You will be receiving a confirmation message indicating that the queue has been successfully added. Verify that the new queue appears in the queue list within the Queue tab.

  • You can now manage, monitor, and configure the newly added queue within the AutomatR Orchestrator's Queue tab. Utilize the provided options to optimize task processing, customize attributes, and streamline automation workflows.

Note: Ensure that the entered information is accurate and relevant to the queue's purpose. The queue name, key, desertion time, email, and any custom fields should align with your workflow requirements.

NameThe Name section displays the names of queues that have been defined in the Orchestrator. Each queue represents a collection of related work items or tasks that need to be processed by automation processes. The name serves as an identifier for the queue.
KeyThe Key section indicates a unique identifier for the queue. This key is used to reference and access the queue programmatically within automation processes and applications.
Desertion TimeThe Desertion Time specifies the maximum amount of time an item can remain in the queue without being processed. If an item exceeds the desertion time, it may be considered abandoned and treated accordingly.
ItemsThe Items section provides information about the number of items currently present in the queue. This count represents the total number of work items that are waiting to be processed by the automation workflow.
  • Queue Item: This option allows users to view detailed information about a specific item within the queue. Clicking on Queue Item provides insights into the properties, status, and data associated with the selected work item. For more details refer Queue Item.
  • Transaction View: The Transaction View option allows users to visualize and analyze the flow of work items through the automation process. This view provides a comprehensive overview of each item's journey, including processing stages and relevant data.

The Queue tab in an AutomatR Orchestrator application is a central hub for managing and optimizing work items. By offering functionalities for item prioritization, sorting strategies, and efficient organization, the Queue tab ensures seamless execution of automation processes, effective task handling, and improved visibility into the progress of items within the Orchestrator environment.


Update Queue

In the AutomatR Orchestrator, you can easily update a queue's details through the Queues window. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to update a queue:

  • Log in to AutomatR Orchestrator and navigate to the Queues tab and select the Queue window, which displays a list of queues and their related details.

  • In the Queue window, find the specific queue you want to update from the queues table.

  • Locate the Actions column associated with the queue and click on the Edit option.

  • Clicking on the Edit option opens a form with the queue details pre-populated.

  • Review the pre-populated queue details to ensure accuracy.

  • If necessary, update any available fields in the form. Common fields that can be updated include:

    • Queue Name: Modify the name of the queue.
    • Queue Key: Change the unique identifier for the queue.
    • Desertion Time (in Minutes): Adjust the time duration for queue desertion.
    • Notification Email: Update the email address for queue-related notifications.
    • Custom Fields: Add or modify custom fields as needed.
    • Desertion Notification Email(s): Adjust the email addresses for desertion notifications.
  • After confirming or making any required updates to the queue details, click on the Update button to save the changes.

  • The system will process the updates, and the queue's details will be modified accordingly.

  • Upon successful updating, you will receive a confirmation message indicating that the queue has been updated.

  • The queue will now reflect the changes you made and will be ready for use with the updated settings.

Updating a queue in the AutomatR Orchestrator Queues window is a straightforward process that allows users to modify queue settings as needed. By following theabove steps, users can ensure that their queues are configured correctly and are ready to manage automation tasks effectively.


Delete Queue

The Actions column in the Queue window provides options to interact with individual queue, the Delete option from the Actions column of Queues table allows you to remove the queue from the AutomatR Orchestrator. Use this action for permanently removing the queue from AutomatR Orchestrator or when it is no longer required in your automation infrastructure.


Applying Sorting Strategy to Queues

In the AutomatR Orchestrator, you can efficiently sort a queue based on your requirements through the Queues window. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to sort a queue:

  • Log in to AutomatR Orchestrator and navigate to the Queues tab and select the Queue window, which displays a list of queues and their related details.

  • In the Queue window, find the specific queue you want to sort from the Queues table.

  • Locate the Actions column associated with the queue and click on the Sorting Strategy option.

  • Clicking on the Sorting Strategy option opens a form displaying a list of sorting strategies.

  • Select the desired sorting strategy from the list. As you click on a strategy, the custom fields details will be displayed.

  • If necessary, adjust the sorting criteria to meet your specific requirements.

  • You have options to:

    • You can set a sorting strategy as the default if required.

    • Modify the ID, Priority, and Custom Status.

    • Use the drag-and-drop feature and rearrange these options to change the sequence based on your sorting preference.

  • After defining or customizing your sorting strategy, click on the Save button to save the sorting configuration.

  • The system will apply the sorting strategy to the selected queue based on your settings.

Sorting a queue in the AutomatR Orchestrator Queue window is a flexible and efficient process that allows users to tailor the queue's organization to their specific needs. By following the above steps, users can easily establish sorting strategies, set defaults, and customize sorting criteria to ensure that tasks are prioritized and processed effectively within the queue.
